Emilyspeak...

Yesterday I got my hat to help my head regain it's normal shape. It sucks, but mommy doesn't make me wear it to sleep.. yet! Today I played in the exersaucer and then played with my friends at daycare. When I got home, me and mommy went to Babies R Us and I got a new toy and some more bibs since I drool so much since I'm teething. Teething sucks too. Literally. Then mommy gave me a bath and we read a book about a moon and a book about pandas. I wish I had a book about frogs. Frogs are my favorite.
Tomorrow is the Halloween Party (Fall Festival for you PC folks) and I get to dress up like a dragonfly for the parade. I will ride in the Baby Buggy with my friends. Then mommy made me legwarmers for Halloween, so I'll wear those too. Then at night daddy and mommy are taking me to the Trick or Treat Fest at the Town Hall. I'm very excited and might even stay up past 7:30!

From Emily....

It rained alot this week. That's okay, I like the rain... it helps me sleep when Daddy snores so loud that I can hear him in my room! Mommy doesn't like it when Daddy snore, but I think it's a funny sound. On Tuesday Daddy hurt his back cleaning out my diaper pail. It was probably the fumes that got him. I like to poop alot. I also like to eat. Now I eat carrots and squash and peas and green beans. I didn't like the bananas so much because they made me poop even more. Friday night Mommy and Daddy read books to me and then I played in my exersaucer. I love my exersaucer. There is one at daycare that I like to kick all the other kids out of. Saturday we went to the grocery store so that I could look at all of the colorful things. Then I took a nap in my swing and Daddy went to the book sale at the library and bought me some books. THEN we went and looked at furniture and all of the sales people thought I was cute. Today Mommy and me went to the mall with Auntie Fannie. I got to sit in the high chair at the restaurant and played with my frog. Then I slept. THEN we went home and I played with Daddy for a little while and ate some sweet potatoes. I got them all over my face. I just finished my bath, so it's time for my night bottle and to go to bed.
Tomorrow I am going to daycare in the morning and then in the afternoon, I have to go and get a hat that I have to wear until next year. I'm not going to like that.

5 months old!

She's getting so big! Unfortunately, she's got a bit of a stuffed nose which is making her miserable.. but on the plus side, she's sitting up by herself for about 20 seconds at a time.. she's getting ready to start rolling too! I'm willing to bet she's mobile before the triplets get here! I think for her 5 month birthday, I'll give her green beans. As long as she doesn't throw them at me like the bananas.

Emily's Week

Just a quick update! Emily had fun on Tuesday night with her babysitters, Ik and Lauren.. two of my collegues came over to babysit her while Rob and I hit our favorite French restaurant for our anniversary (it turned out to have *gone Italian* in the last week.. so we actually had italian cuisine!) and then we went to some ridiculous club across the street where the bouncer thought it was so funny that he had to ask for my ID that he burst out laughing. I think I need that anti-aging facial! Thursday night we took Em for her 5 month pictures.. they didn't turn out as well as we'd wanted.. she wouldn't smile, I think she was tired. Oh well! This weekend we're going to take her to Fredericksburg.. that should be fun!

Plagiocephaly

Google It.

Not that I'm going to start an awareness program.. though someone should.. seems *doctors* are getting rich off of SIDS Awareness and the *Back to Sleep* campaign where babies now have to sleep on their backs or die. Raise your hand if you were put on your tummy when you were brought home from the hospital and (here it comes...) lived.

When babies are put on their backs to sleep, they tend to roll their head to one side and being soft, the heads form a flat spot and babies continue to favor where their head rolls naturally.. towards the flat spot. Emily's is *severe*.

*Luckily* there is a new *technology* called a DOC band.. which is like a little wrestlers helmet that helps reshape the babies head. They are put into it at about 4 months and wear it for about 8 weeks. Emily was fitted for hers yesterday. It'll be here in two weeks. If anyone wants to send her stickers to put on her helmet, please do!

And seriously.. the flat spot would probably round out once Em starts sitting up all the time.. but insurance covers it and she'll be done by Christmas.

And if you tease her.. Rob will kick your ass.

Emily!

Now that little Emily is here (and has been for awhile now!!), BabyBlog2007 is now EmilyBlog! Emily Louise is now almost 5 months old! Can you believe it! At the moment she's estimated to be a little over 18 pounds and probably about 27.5 inches long. She's eating solid foods (if you call level one babyfoods "solids") and sleeps regularly through the night. (~8:30 pm til mommy wakes her up around 7 am). Her favorites are: Pro Football Team: NY Giants College Football Team: LSU Tigers Place to hang out: High chair and Exersaucer (tie) Vacation place: Baton Rouge and New Jersey (tie) First Cousin: Ellie (easy decision til December) Animal: Frogs Thing to chew on: hands Thing to do: drool and toss things to the floor from the high chair This past weekend Emily went to the Edward Hopper exhibit at the National Gallery and helped mommy make bagels and watched football with daddy.
